Zit Remedy

betty, originally uploaded by Stephane and Stephanie.

More Betty dresses, more smiles. The 1950s have consumed me, all I need is an apron and I'm set for baking and cooking the days away.

(Points up: Zit remedy! Remember Degrassi High? You know, the original? Am I dating myself here? Probably...)

So it's winter here in Canada only it's not, and I'm gloomy. The days have been rainy with one brief glimpse of snow. I'm supposed to be living in "The Great White North" but there's no white fluffy goodness to be found. It feels like that scene in Home Alone 2 when the family goes on a Christmas vacation only to be greeted with rain. Boo. I forever will be a five year old when it comes to Christmas, and am having a hard time getting into the spirit of things when the weather is warm and wet. For now, I will have to live my snowy days through Christmasy desktop wallpapers. Keeping it classy...

SO LADIES...I have a question for you regarding SKIN CARE! Has anyone used "Rosehip oil" for their face? I hear it works wonders but have yet to try it. Am looking for opinions, though! My face has been so wonky lately. Red marks, pimples that won't go away, an overall 'old' look to it. What happened to the shiny face of my youth?! I shouldn't complain as it's not horrendous or anything, but I just find that nothing I do works these days. Any tips, loves? I'd be most grateful!

With love and more,
G

  1. That dress is heaven.

I am 37 and STILL get pimples. What the hell?

I seriously consider wearing aprons over my 1950s dresses to work because I like the look.

  2. Hello,

glad I stumbled across your blog, it's so cute!
I'm really interested in natural skincare, and so thought I'd give my two cents. I've not hear much about rosehip oil, however I know it's high in omega-3's which help reduce scarring. Try moisturizing with it at night after a gentle facial wash.

Here's a gross-sounding but absolutely magical tip for skin cleansing. It has literally worked wonders for my skin - it reduces redness, makes it softer and brighter, and somehow tighter!o_O

Basically, you mix roughly one cup of rolled oats with two cups of natural bio yoghurt. Make sure the yoghurt is completely pure and natural with no additives or sugar. Simply apply it as a mask and leave on for about a minute or so, then rinse, rubbing it into your skin as you go for light exfoliation.

The oats act as a gentle exfoliator and the yoghurt acts as a calming balm, adding nutrients to the skin. It makes your skin all dewy!

If you have lots of mixture left, just cover and refrigerate for the next day. I reckon that oat & yoghurt cleansing followed by rosehip moisturizing a couple of times a week would work wonders. And cheap too!

Hope that helps, good luck and keep blogging! :) xxx

  3. Nooo wonky face :( I'm not too sure about rosehip oil but i use glycerin and rosewater clenser on my face which keeps naughtiness away!

Aww man if there's no snow in Canada then i have less than low hopes for england! It is freezing here though, my morning brain keeps flexing its naughty muscles and telling me to stay off work so i can go back to sleep and dont have to walk in the cold! I swear it's gonna get me fired one day >_<

<3 that first photo, your smile is just perfect and so so cute! xxx
